Even in her free time, Melissa Chowning geeks out on digital marketing — which is why she walks into work every day with her wheels already turning. The California native studied communications at the University of North Texas and has since gained 12 years of professional experience in marketing leadership roles for prominent local brands, including D Magazine. Her work has caught the attention of more than just Dallasites, however; In 2016, Folio named her one of the 100 most important people in magazine media. As D Custom’s director of digital media strategy, Melissa guides clients’ digital strategies and audience development efforts to drive traffic, leads, and results. When the self-proclaimed “big nerd” isn’t immersed in the digital world, you’ll likely find her reading, listening to podcasts, and keeping busy with her two children, both under the age of 5. Another thing to know about Melissa — whether she’s talking to you about the true-crime story she’s currently obsessing over, the changing digital landscape, or 30 Rock, her passion is infectious.
