The client
One of the nation’s leading business schools, SMU Cox School of Business offers a complete portfolio of BBA and master’s degrees, including full-time, part-time, and online options. As it embarks on a second century of business education centered around leadership, analytics, and experiential learning, the Cox School aims to help students reach their career goals and build lifelong global networks.

The partnership
In 2019, SMU Cox wanted to better connect with its growing community and boost alumni engagement. To do so, the school needed to refresh its communications — including its flagship magazine, Coxtoday, and online content hub.
The same year the Cox School celebrated a century of business education, D Custom revitalized Coxtoday and built a new digital hub that together foster community, alumni, and stakeholder engagement. In addition to the twice-yearly magazine, we produce digital content and email newsletters to support the Cox School’s effort to stay at the forefront of influential thought leadership.
In 2024, we partnered with SMU’s in-house web team to migrate Coxtoday’s digital hub onto the university’s main domain, thereby enhancing the user experience and maximizing search engine optimization (SEO). In 2025, we completed a modern, reader-friendly redesign of the print publication more connected to SMU’s overall branding.
